As the champs of the IFC All-Sports Trophy, Delts reigned above other houses in the world of Greek sports such as ping-pong, volleyball, football, and water polo. The brothers of Delta Tau Delta were quite the athletes at this time as well. This exclusive club within the fraternity held events such as Family Day and an annual Barn Dance. Maia Rowland cooked daily for the brothers and for all of their special events, such as the meetings of the Delta Tau Delta Mothers and Wives Club. It is otherwise known as the Leavitt Mansion.ĭelt’s house chef was rated as the top chef on campus by the local Jersey Journal. 809 CPT boasts the title of the largest residential structure in Hoboken. As one of the largest fraternities on campus with 38 members, Delt occupied 809 Castle Point Terrace. Also, New Jersey State law outlawed hazing. The Delts were drawn to write up this policy because hazing is completely inconsistent with fraternity ideals. A new pledge program was instantly introduced by the Pledge Educators. Dean Everson and Faculty Advisor Dick Widdicombe attended the meeting as well. The vote by brothers was unanimous for the anti-hazing amendments. Each pledge and brother had to sign a policy that “he would not perform any acts of hazing against any member of the house, nor would he tolerate any act of hazing by anyone outside the house.” The final statement is in reference to alumni chapter members who have not signed the policy. A formal anti-hazing policy has been written up by pledges and brothers. The Rho chapter has never had a hazing problem before, yet has made the brotherhood decision to abolish hazing as part of the pledge or brotherhood process on March 18, 1982. Delta Tau Delta is making history on Stevens campus.
